At approximately 10:55 a.m. this morning, one of the three generating units at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro’s (Hydro) Holyrood Thermal Generating Station tripped offline.

As a result, there was a ten minute outage to approximately 17,000 customers. Hydro had sufficient generation reserves online which allowed immediate restoration of customers.

The trip on the Holyrood unit occurred during routine work on the unit’s system controls and the unit was back online in just over 90 minutes.

Hydro sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience from the outage.
