Getting Connected

All new services require a Technical Assessment for newly constructed services. Contact Hydro as early as possible in the construction phase to help prevent any delays in receiving your final connection. More info here: New Service Connections and New Construction brochure.

If your home is located beyond our existing distribution system, we will assess your request and provide you with a written quote if there is a need to charge extra for providing service. For more information, please refer to our Contribution In Aid of Construction Policy.


Labrador East Customers – Temporary 100kW Restriction

Please be advised that Hydro currently has a temporary restriction in place for customer additions in Labrador East greater than 100 kW. This restriction is in place until further order of the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities.

Hydro is actively engaged in proceedings before the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities to address future network additions and expansion of Hydro’s electrical system in Labrador in general.  The results of these proceedings will be communicated to Hydro’s customers when available.


Home Renovations

If you plan to work on home repairs and renovations on your home, take the time to think about ways to ensure your project runs smoothly and safely. Whether you are prepared to work on home renovations yourself or have hired a contractor, ensure that specific safety measures are in place before work begins.

If you require your electricity to be temporarily disconnected for non-electrical home repairs such as siding installation, please contact us in advance to ensure we can meet your schedule.


Upgrading, Relocating or Repairing Your Existing Service Connection

If you are making changes to your electrical system, please contact us in advance. An Authorization for Connection is required from Government Services prior to reconnection.


Canceling Service

Moving – If you are moving and wish to have your account transferred, we require a minimum of 48 hours notice (excluding weekends and holidays).

Permanent Removal of Service – We require 10 days written notice for permanent removal of your service connection. Please fax your signed request to 709.570.5937.
