Whether you’re new to Hydro or wondering how to make changes to your existing electricity service before moving to a new home, here’s where you’ll find the information you need to set up a new service connection, move your service to a new address, or permanently cancel your electricity service.

New Customer

New to Hydro? Welcome! As the main energy provider for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, we make it our business to ensure your new service connection is up and ready to power your home or business when you need it.

To set up a new business or residential electricity service, including new site set-ups, construction of electrical facilities, and existing service upgrades, email us or call 1-888-737-1296 to open an account.

If the service is for a new construction, be advised that we must first conduct a technical assessment. Be sure you contact us as early as possible during the construction phase to help prevent any delays getting set up with your new electricity service.

If your home is located beyond our existing distribution system, we’ll assess your request and provide you with a written quote if we need to charge extra for providing service. Refer to our Contribution In Aid of Construction Policy for more information.

Move Your Service

Planning a move and want to keep your existing account? Give us a shout at 1-888-737-1296 or email us to request that your electricity account be transferred to your new address.

Be sure to allow for a minimum of 48 hours notice (excluding weekends and holidays) so that we have time enough to make sure you’re set up and ready to go when you move into your new home.

Cancel Your Service

Planning a move and want to cancel your electricity service? While we’re sorry to see you go, we’ll make sure everything’s done on time.

For permanent removal of your service connection, please fax a signed request to 709-570-5937. For more information, please contact us or call 1-888-737-1296.

Please note that we require 10 days written notice to cancel your service.
