Crews continuing to restore power to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula. Power restored to majority of customers – 1:00 p.m. (Feb.18, 2013)

February 18, 2013, 1:00 p.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting that crews are continuing to restore power to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula.
Power has been restored to the majority of customers. Crews are working to repair some broken poles and downed power lines due to the extreme high winds and storm conditions on Sunday. Power restoration efforts are ongoing in the areas of Plum Point, Shoal Cove East and Bellburns, as well as isolated pockets of customers.
Power is stable in the Hawke’s Bay and St. Anthony areas, and customers are no longer asked to limit electricity use other than typical, everyday efforts to use energy wisely. Hydro apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the patience of its customers.
Customers can get updates from the Hydro Power Outages and Emergencies (24 hrs) line at 1-888-737-1296. Regular updates are also provided at Twitter.com/NLHydro and www.facebook.com/NLHydro.
