ADVISORY: Labrador West – Planned Outages on June 12 and September 11

May 20th, 2022

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising customers in Labrador West of two planned power outages.

The first is scheduled for:

  • Sunday, June 12, 2022 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This will affect all customers in Labrador City, Wabush and surrounding areas (including IOC and Tacora Resources). The outage is required in order for Hydro to perform critical annual maintenance and equipment upgrades at the Wabush terminal station and in Churchill Falls, as well as to the Labrador West distribution system.

A second planned outage is currently scheduled for Sunday, September 11. Further details regarding this second outage will be confirmed and communicated soon. All details will be provided on Hydro’s website, Facebook and Twitter and shared with customers once the schedule has been finalized.

We understand the impact that these interruptions have on customers and we thank you for your understanding as we complete this essential work on the electricity system to ensure continued reliability for customers in Labrador West. Hydro’s annual maintenance season generally begins in spring, when electricity demand starts to decline, and extends to November in preparation for winter, and it is critical to ensuring necessary maintenance work is completed to provide safe, reliable service.
