ADVISORY: Happy Valley-Goose Bay equipment upgrades Sunday, June 19 – No customer outage
In order to complete additional terminal station upgrades and expand capacity to serve Upper Lake Melville, the terminal station will be taken offline on Sunday, June 19 from 7am to 7pm.
No power disruption to customers is expected, as back-up generation will be used to supply electricity while the work is done. In addition, various industrial customers will reduce their power use during this time to lessen system demand.
However, higher electricity usage overall would increase the potential for some customers to experience an outage.
Homeowners and businesses in the area can help us manage electricity demand and avoid disruptions by taking a few small actions between 7am and 7pm this Sunday:
- Minimize hot water use by choosing not to run dishwashers, showers, etc.
- Avoid using clothes washers and dryers.
- Turn electric thermostats down a few degrees.
- Switch off lights, appliances and electronics that aren’t in use.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we complete this necessary work.
