ADVISORY: Construction activity at Indian Pond, June 5-16

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents in the area of Holyrood, CBS, and Seal Cove of dredging and related work being carried out at and around the Indian Pond trestle on the T’railway, near the Holyrood generating plant. (See image)

This work will begin on June 5 with an estimated completion date of June 16. During this period, work activity will be happening Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

T’railway access and use: While the area near Indian Pond, including the trestle, will be accessible during this period, users of the T’railway in this area are advised that heavy equipment will be working in the Seal Cove ATV staging lot and immediate area, and will be crossing the T’railway to access the work site. Please be aware and use caution when walking, biking or ATVing in this location.

No boat access: A floating boom for silt containment (required under permit) will be in place at the mouth of Indian Pond. Therefore, there will be no boating access through the channel during the June 5-16 period.

The work is being done to maintain adequate water flow into Indian Pond, which is a source of water necessary for the operation of the nearby Holyrood generating plant.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding, and apologize for any inconvenience during this period.
